The EU has launched a project in the field of health care reform. The wider objective of the EC TACIS project “Strengthening Primary Health Care in Moldova” is to contribute to the effective and efficient development of the lately introduced Primary Health Care System in Moldova. The project will have a duration of 2 years, from September 2008 till August 2010.

Overall Project Objective:

To contribute to an effective coverage of Moldova with quality primary health care services that impact on major health problems while improving equitable access and considering financial sustainability.


Planned outputs:
Result 1: Improved efficiency and quality of the services at PHC level 
Result 2: Strengthened capacity of health management and medical personnel in PHC 


Project activities:
The project activities are grouped according to the following components:
           Component 1: Develop a mechanism for elaboration of Clinical Guidelines and 
                                Protocols for PHC
           Component 2: Develop and carry out public information and awareness campaign
           Component 3: Strengthen the capacities, knowledge and skills of practitioners in PHC
           Component 4: Define the concept of a decentralized information system in the PHC


Target groups:
Ministry of Health; major stakeholders of PHC issues at national, rayon and local levels; University, training centres and trainees; general public
